A game that you feel the weight of. Missouri has the chance to take a leap as a program, with a massive win over #8 Alabama.
Alabama would win the toss and elect to defer, giving the Missouri offense a chance to score first and try to assert themselves early. Missouri would do just that. Ahmad Hardy and Beau Pribula got going on the ground early, with Pribula getting a massive chunk play,
Alabama would start it’s drive at the 23 as well, and go all 77 yards to score a TD. The Tiger defense played well on this drive, but penalties killed them. Zion Young got flagged twice, once for unsportsmanlike conduct and once for offside. The Tigers had the chance to end the drive twice, but shot themselves in the foot.
On the next Missouri offensive drive, the Tigers went three-and-out. On 3rd and 4, Pribula had Johnson wide open, and he missed him by about 10 yards. Johnson would have likely scored.
Bma would march down the field yet again, with an 11-play scoring drive. Mizzou had them at a 3rd and 12, but Simpson delivered a strike to Isaiah Horton for a TD. 14-7 Bama
Mizzou wpould move the ball slightly, with one first down, butthe drive would stall early, forcing a punt. Bama would start at the 30.
Alabama would score yet again, but this time, the Missouri defense was able to hold them to three. A sack on third down by Khalil Jacobs, would force it.
Missouri on its next drive, absolutely needed to score. Jamal Roberts would help with this, with a huge chunk play, and later, on 2nd and 20, Mizzou would pick up 17. Robert Meyer would make a kick at the end of the half to put it at 17-10.
To open up the second half, the Missouri defense did the best thing possible. A forced fumble on a sack of Ty Simpson would put Mizzou at the 19. An Ahmad Hardy first down run and a Beau Pribula keeper would put the game at 17. Huge.
Bama and Mizzou would then trade drives, resulting in punts, with the Tigers unable to capitalize on a massive defensive stop. Alabama on it’s next drive would march all the way down the field, 65 yards. A one-yard touchdown by Jam Miller was overturned due to Ty Simpson falling on the handoff. Alabama would get 3, making the game 20-17 with 0:09 to go in the third.
Missouri would start to drive, but on 3rd and 4, Pribula would throw a costly interception. Bama would take over at their own 40.
Alabama would get all the way down to the Missouri 30, where they would miss a field goal. Missouri would not capitalize, going three-and-out and being one yard short on a fake punt.
Alabama would take advantage with the ball at the Tigers 40. The Tide would go get a touchdown on 4th and goal, throwing a wide open TD. 27-17.
Missouri would get the ball back, hoping to cut the lead. They would start to drive, getting to the Alabama 30 by the two-minute warning. Mizzou would connect with Olugbode to the 3, then a TD to him as well.
Bama would recover Mizzou’s onside kick, but Mizzou, with all three timeouts would force the three-and-out. Huge for the Missouri defense.
Missouri would have the ball at the 18, no timeouts, 1:17 to go.
Missouri would pick up a first, but a Pribula interception would end it. Bama 27 MIZ 24.
