St. Louis High School football’s biggest and best rivalry kicked off for another installment on Friday as CBC defended their home turf in a 56-13 win against De Smet.

Following a few scoreless drives to start the game, CBC kicked off the scoring midway through the first quarter with a 7 yard Nick McClellan touchdown pass to running back Vic Williams. This score would open the floodgates as De Smet would have no answer for this high powered CBC offense from here on out.

The scoring would continue on CBC’s next Drive as Williams would take a handoff it in Cadets territory, bounce it outside, break multiple tackles, and hit paydirt for a 56 yard Touchdown run. This was Williams 2nd touchdown of the quarter, but his day was far from over.

The big plays would continue for CBC in the 2nd quarter, starting it off with McClellan finding senior Wide Receiver Jayden Reed streaking down the sideline for a 47 yard Touchdown pass, and again in the next drive as McClellan would evade a sack, escape the pocket, and find Reed with another deep ball that would end up going for a 78 yard score to give the Cadets a commanding 28-0 lead with 7 minutes still to play before halftime,

But the Spartans wouldn’t take that lying down, as they would finally get on the board themselves before halftime, as Quarterback Gabe Rodriguez would find multiple receivers and lead them on a scoring drive that ended with a 2 yard touchdown run by Junior Running back Cam Sharp. De Smet would score again before half, as they would take advantage of a roughing the kicker penalty on a Field Goal attempt right before half, and turn it into another Cam Sharp touchdown, this time on a pass from Rodriguez. De Smet would miss the Extra Point however, as the game entered halftime with a score of 28-13.

It was all CBC from there though, as the previously mentioned Vic Williams opened up the 2nd half with an 80 yard Touchdown run on his first play from scrimmage. The next two drives would end similarly, as Nick McClennan added on a 39 yard touchdown run himself, and Williams would find the endzone one more time on yet another 80 yard touchdown run to ice the game and make the score 49-13. Williams would only get 9 carries on the game, but he would make the most of them, finishing with 282 rushing yards and 3 scores on the ground, and with that additional 7 yard touchdown through the air on his lone catch back in the first quarter.

The Cadets would finish the night with one final touchdown from Junior Running back Caden Shea and a dominant win in a big time rivalry. CBC moves to 4-0 as they will await Lipscomb academy for another home matchup next week, while De Smet, who falls to 1-3, will look to right the ship next week against Vianney.
